Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and concludes with Holy Saturday, a time to wait in the grief of Jesus death. As Protestants, we emphasize the empty cross and the resurrection of Jesus but acknowledge that just like the griefs and sorrows of life, we can not fully appreciate the celebration of the resurrection without the sorrow of the crucifixion.
Palm Sunday, for a Pot Luck Lunch and Easter Egg Hunt Following the 11:00 a.m. service. One of our Sunday School classes will provide the meat, and everyone else is invited to bring a salad, vegetable, potato, pasta, or dessert. Please bring enough for your family and another family of the same size.
Then on Holy Thursday, the day we remember Jesus having the last supper with his disciples, we will have worship at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary followed by a Foot Washing service in the Café.
Good Friday, the day we remember the crucifixion of Christ, we worship at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. During this service, we will have a reading from the stages of the cross, and prayer stations in the family life center to spend time praying and reflecting on the events leading to Jesus death.
Finally, join us on Easter morning, for worship at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. when our Choir will bring us the Easter Cantata. There will be no Sunday School Easter morning, instead, we will have a pot-luck breakfast. Come to help us welcome guests and share the love and community at Euless First United Methodist Church– and that’s no foolin’!
