Many things about the sea make it an uncertainty. Waves can throw us off our feet and the undercurrent can pull us under. The ocean’s power draws us in and reminds us of God’s majesty, but also of our own smallness. Our world is full of uncertainty. How, and where, can we find hope in this world? How do we, as God’s people, offer hope to the world? Our world is full of false news, anger and hostility towards each other, and our leaders.
What will tomorrow hold? Will we survive the storms ahead?
As Christians, we want answers – for ourselves, and for others. Yet the answers that worked a generation ago now ring hollow or sound naive.
What are you going to do? You can’t just stand at the edge of life and wonder. It’s time to step in. Will you make it? Can you keep your head above water? In a world where the only certainty is uncertainty, how will we find hope to move forward?
Our next sermon series, Hope in Uncertainty, will offer some answers, some hope. Join us Sunday morning at 8:30 or 11, beginning January 8th.
