Advent, the four Sundays proceeding Christmas, is a season in which we prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Christ. We remember, with anticipation, all that the coming of Christ means.
This Advent season we will be looking at the theme of “I (h)ATE Christmas.” While many experience advent as a time of joyful excitement, for others it is a time of anxiety and worry.
Sometimes we cannot live up to the expectations of what the season should be, or what we feel others are saying it should be. We worry about money, and some of us are grieving the loss of a loved one. Let’s face it, sometimes we just don’t feel like oozing happiness and cheer.
During this season, Pastor Steve will be preaching about “FrustrATE to DecorATE”, “AnticipATE to DedicATE”, “DesperATE to ImmediATE”, and finally “IncarnATE.”
As we get ready to celebrATE this season we will once again have our Advent Book. The book will have all of the worship services for the season, as well as daily devotionals, an advent calendar, and kids activities. Don’t worry if you forget your Advent Book one Sunday, we will have a PDF of it online. Just go to our main web page, and there will be a link at the bottom right corner (on a mobile device it will be the last graphic and link).
Join us as we “celebrATE” the joy in the midst of our seasonal stress.
2017 will also bring us a new resource- the Chrismon Book. Each year at Euless First we take time to decorate our tree in the sanctuary with ornaments made by the loving hands of our members. Each ornament is a symbol of the story of the life of Christ. These ornaments are called Chrismons. We have made a small book for you to see the story, history, and imagery behind each of our ornaments. Here is a link to the book.
