Project Transformation (PT) involves college students investing in lives of children in low-income neighborhoods to improve their literacy, social-emotional and spiritual development. Churches provide the needed outreach of community assistance.
Euless FUMC has supported PT for many years. Again our help is needed to support this outreach, but there are many different changes for this year’s program. Instead of reading one on one with struggling readers, we will provide 80-90 Weekend Bags for the week of July 20. These bags will need to be filled by July 17 and brought to Euless FUMC (see list below). Volunteers from our church will deliver these to our site host, Bedford FUMC on July 20.
4-6 volunteers from our church will be needed July 20-23. There is a required volunteer form that will be submitted prior to beginning the volunteer shift. These volunteers must be between the ages 18-64, wear a cloth face covering, and participate in a health verification. These volunteers will help organize, record, sanitize, and distribute daily meals (provided by North Texas Food Bank) and supplies to children on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10:00am – 1:00pm. On Thursday, the Weekend Bags that our church provided will be distributed.
We also need 2-3 volunteers from Euless FUMC to be paired with students as summer pen pals. Volunteers should be able to write letters to children, commit to corresponding for June & July, and pass a successful background check.
We are encouraged to support PT financially as well. Churches are asked to contribute $3,500.00 to support PT’s mission to transform communities by engaging children, college students, and churches in purposeful relationships. We will take up a special communion offering in July to provide support to the program.
Summer camp supplies will be included with each Weekend Bag.
Thank you for your willingness to help with PT this summer. Barbara Borland will be the contact person (firstname.lastname@example.org) please email her if you have any questions.
Please let Barbara know if you can provide 1 or more Weekend Bags or be a summer pen pal with a student. You may also contact Jo Tarrh (email@example.com) or the Church Office.
